Considering day to day laboratory research and development work, water is undeniably an integral part of this daily process. We at NEPTEC understands that “clean water” may deemed to be a vague phrase in order to address the high standards of water requirements needed in the laboratory industry. Thus, our new modularly designed, HALIOS ultrapure system series, puts forward versatile lab water solutions that comply to any of our clients’ needs, and maximise laboratory productivity through a state-of-the art design.
For us to clearly address various challenges and demands in the lab water industry, we have compiled some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). This list can be helpful for our current and future clients so we can have a better understanding of what HALIOS can truly offer.
Q: Why is it necessary to purify your lab water?
A: Our HALIOS systems produce ultrapure water, also known as Type 1 Water, which reaches the ideal levels of purity, with a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ.cm, TOC < 2 ppb (with UV lamp) and bacterial count <0.01 CFU/ml. Additionally, endotoxins can be also removed with an optional ultrafilter and as such the produced ultra-pure water typically contains <0.001 EU/ml with nucleases and proteases at non-detectable levels.
Ultrapure water is an essential and critical reagent used in many highly sensitive scientific applications like HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, GFAAS, PCR and cell culture, as well as clinical analysers.
Q: Why is it important to use ultrapure water?
A: Ultrapure water removes all contaminants or impurities which are present in drinking water. Tap water differs widely throughout the world. Our HALIOS series is designed to work in various conditions and always produces reliable results. The presence of impurities and contaminants can have a serious impact on your data. By ensuring that you use an ultrapure water which meets a high level of purity you eliminate any impediments to your laboratory data and ensure accurate results.
Q: What makes HALIOS water system stand out?
A: We, at NEPTEC, understand how crucial it is to have access to the best possible water quality. Taking into account the NEPTEC HALIOS water system and basically its function in removing water impurities down to extremely low levels in a cost-effective manner, we arrange a combination of different technologies and optimize their operation. The intuitive control of the unit which can be seen through our graphical user interface ensures that you can focus on your daily work while the system handles optimum water quality.
Q: Why do you refer NEPTEC HALIOS ultrapure water system as a “series”?
A: We offer two product variations of HALIOS ultrapure water system.
Type I from pre-treated water comprises of an innovative graphical user interface, external tabletop dispenser and a compact production unit. The standard HALIOS is the most cost-effective system since it delivers ultrapure water for a wide range of critical applications. It can also be upgraded with a UV lamp, an ultrafilter and a TOC monitor which prevents microbiological growth, permits TOC values <2 ppb and removes reliably pyrogens and nucleases.
Type I and II from tap water comprises similarly of a graphical user interface, external tabletop dispenser and a compact production unit. HALIOS 6 produces 6 litres of pure water per hour while HALIOS 12 produces 12 L/h. It also offers a storage tank which can be placed at the bottom of the production unit and can store up to 10 litres of water. It has modern design features and a circulation which prevent stagnation and bacterial contamination.
Q: Are there any technical documentation which contains the product’s water requirements and specifications?
Yes, HALIOS brochure is now available on our website and can be downloaded for free.
If you have any additional questions or clarifications our sales team will be very happy to get in touch with you.
